KVIC proposed to establish National Design and Product Development Centres

Khadi and Village Industries Corporation (KVIC) proposed to establish National Design and Product Development Centres in India. The proposal aims to facilitate Khadi institutions to develop trendy designs as per market demand. Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises conducted a meeting regarding the setting up of such centre in New Delhi. It was presided over by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister for MSME and Road Transport & Highways. The design house aims to help Khadi to gain customers’ trust and lead to an increase in production and employment generation.


Proposed centre:

KVIC's proposed design facilitate Khadi institutions to develop products according to market demand. The primary role aims to identify the latest design trends, adopt them as per customer needs and undertake various testing and review activities for translating them into production.
Four design houses, one each in the eastern, western, northern, southern parts of the country, are to be established as per the proposal.
