President Kovind conferred NSS Awards of the 2017 to 2018 

President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the National Service Scheme Awards 2017-18 in a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi.


Aim of the award:

The award aims to recognize and reward the outstanding contributions towards voluntary community service made by the Universities and Senior Secondary Councils, NSS Units/ Programme Officers and NSS Volunteers.

National Service Scheme Awards:

The National Service Scheme is conferred by the Department of Youth Affairs under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports every year.
The National Service Scheme Awards 2017-18 was awarded in 3 categories namely:
1) University/ +2 Council
2) NSS Units and their Programme Officers
3) NSS Volunteers
Under the University/ +2 Council category 2 candidates were awarded.
Under the NSS Units and their Programme Officers category 10+10 candidates were awarded.
Under the NSS Volunteers category 30 candidates were awarded.

Note:

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Scheme was launched on 24th September 1969. This year NSS celebrates the Golden Jubilee year.
