1. The annual festival of Kheer Bhawani Mela celebrated in J&K

Driven apart by three decades of conflict, Jammu and Kashmir’s two separated communities, Muslims and Pandits, on June 11 witnessed a rare union on the annual festival of Zyeshth Ashtami at the Kheer Bhawani temple in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal, as hundreds of Pandits from across the country converged to pay obeisance.

2. India & Portugal to set up National Maritime Heritage Museum in Lothal

India and Portugal will cooperate in the setting up of a national maritime heritage museum at Lothal in Gujarat. The Indian Navy is keen to be a stakeholder in the project and the Portuguese Navy has agreed to assist with their experience of administering the maritime museum in Lisbon, according to defense sources. Initial discussions were held during the visit of Portuguese Defence Minister João Gomes Cravinho to India in April.

3. ASI declared Chaukhandi Stupa as Monument of National Importance

The 125-year-old Old High Court Building in Nagpur, Maharashtra, and two Mughal-era monuments in Agra — Haveli of Agha Khan and Hathi Khana — are among the six monuments declared protected and of national importance by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in 2018.

4. MHA allows all states to setup Foreigners Tribunals

With Assam’s National Register of Citizens as the backdrop, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has laid out specific guidelines to detect, detain and deport foreign nationals staying illegally across the country. The MHA has amended the Foreigners (Tribunals) Order, 1964, and has empowered district magistrates in all States and Union Territories to set up tribunals to decide whether a person staying illegally in India is a foreigner or not. Earlier, the powers to constitute tribunals were vested only with the Centre.

The 37-year-old, however, will be available for overseas franchise-based leagues. One of India's finest all-rounders, Yuvraj featured in 40 Tests, 304 ODIs and 58 T20Is for India. He donned the India colors for the last time in 2017 as an indifferent form and injury issues forced him out of the national reckoning.

Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (Gift City) Monday said it has appointed former Corporate Affairs Secretary Tapan Ray as its Managing Director. With a career spanning more than three decades, Ray has held several key positions in the ministries of defence, textiles, power, science and technology, and planning in the Government of India.

8. IPS V.S. Kaumudi appointed as DG of BPR&D

The Centre on Monday appointed senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer V.S. Kaumudi as Director General of Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) by downgrading the post to the level of Additional Director General. Kaumudi, a 1986 batch Andhra Pradesh cadre IPS officer, is presently working as the Additional Director General in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Sabharwal, the former defense personnel, is supposed to have cited personal reasons for resigning from the board. Yes, Bank’s independent director Mukesh Sabharwal is said to have quit the board of directors, making it the second board level exit in as many days leading to uncertainty ahead of its shareholder's meeting on Wednesday, said two people familiar with the matter. Ajai Kumar, a non-executive director of Yes BankNSE -3.51 % who served as the independent director had resigned from the board due to personal reasons on Monday, the private sector lender said on Monday.

12. Certification for BS-VI norms released for two-wheelers; Hero MotoCorp becomes the first two-wheeler manufacturer to receive it

Hero MotoCorp has been awarded BS6 certification for its Hero Splendor iSmart, becoming the first two-wheeler manufacturer in India to do so. The BS6 regime will kick off from April 1, 2020 and keeping that in mind, two and four wheelers have already started moving their production to BS6. And as far two-wheeler manufacturers are concerned, Hero MotoCorp has become the first company to get BS VI certification for its Hero Splendor iSmart. Hero has received the type approval certificate from International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) after the Splendor iSmart was successfully tested for BS6 compliance. The BS VI compliant Hero Splendor iSmart was fully designed and developed by Hero at its Centre for Innovation and Technology (CIT) center in Jaipur.

13. Sashakt Committee recommends RBI’s changes in Inter-Creditor Agreement (ICA) framework

Mehta noted that this will ensure that a consensus building amongst lenders will be carried forward promptly, to its logical conclusion and within timelines as specified. The Sashakt Committee has recommended that the existing Inter-Creditor Agreement (ICA) to incorporate the revised voting threshold and other changes for decision making stipulated by the Reserve Bank of India. In a statement, it said that this will enable expeditious implementation of the new framework on stressed assets.

14. RBI eased regulations for BSBD Accounts

The apex bank eased regulations for Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) Accounts, popularly known as 'no-frills' accounts. Banks will now provide checkbooks and other facilities to basic account holders, with the Reserve Bank of India relaxing the norms on Monday. However, the banks cannot ask the account holders to maintain any minimum balance in lieu of such facilities. Earlier, additional facilities made these accounts like a regular savings account, thus attracting the requirement of maintaining a minimum balance and other charges.
