1. PM Narendra Modi Reconstituted NITI Aayog

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday approved reconstitution of policy think tank Niti Aayog, renaming Rajiv Kumar as its vice chairman and appointing Home Minister Amit Shah as an ex-office  member. According to official sources, besides Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajanth Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will be ex-officio members. Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Commerce, and Industry and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, Social Justice Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot and Statistics Minister Rao Inderjit Singh will be special invitees to the panel.

2. Commerce Minister  Piyush Goyal addressed a meeting of Board of Trade & Council

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry & Railways, Piyush Goyal, has urged the representatives of industry and exports bodies to stop depending on crutches of subsidies and grants from the Central Government and strive to make the industry more competitive and self-reliant. Addressing a joint meeting of the Board of Trade and the Council of Trade Development and Promotion organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in New Delhi today the Commerce Minister asserted that when subsidies have been done away with, businesses grew.

3. Inauguration of ‘Unknown masterpieces of Himachal Folk Art’.

The Minister of State (I/c) of Culture & Tourism, Govt. of India ShriPrahaladSinghPatel, inaugurated the exhibition titled "Unknown Masterpieces of Himachal Folk Art”, at National Museum, New Delhi, today. The event was graced by Shri Akhilesh Mishra, Director General, ICCR, B.N Aryan, Director, Home of Tribal Folk Art, Gurugram among other dignitaries.

4. 3rd advance estimates of production of major crops for 2018-19 released by the Government 

The 3rd Advance Estimates of production of major crops for 2018-19 have been released by the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare on 03rd June 2019. The assessment of the production of different crops is based on the feedback received from States and validated with information available from other sources. The estimated production of various crops as per the 3rd Advance Estimates for 2018-19 vis-à-vis the comparative estimates for the years 2005-06 onwards is enclosed.

5. Dr. Harsh Vardhan reviewed the status of Nipah virus disease in Kerala

Dr. Harsh VardhanUnion Minister of Health and Family Welfare reviewed the status of Nipah virus Disease today. Ms. Preeti Sudan, Secretary (HFW) also took an in-depth review of the current situation of Nipah virus disease in Kerala with the Ministry officials. District Control Room has been set up in the Collector Office (Helpline No. 04842425200).

6. India signed Rs 300-crore deal with Israel to buy more 100 SPICEbombs

The Indian Air Force has signed Rs 300-crore deal with the Israeli government to buy as many as 100 SPICE bombs. The newly ordered SPICE bombs are an advanced version of SPICE-2000 bombs which were used by the IAF during the air strikes in Balakot on February 26, in which the Indian forces reportedly eliminated around 300 Jaish-e-Mohammed militants. Since the deal has been signed under emergency powers, the Israeli government is expected to deliver these bombs in the next three months, reports India Today.

7. Equator Prize 2019 announced by UNDP

The UN Development Programme (UNDP) and partners announced today the winners of the 10th Equator Prize, recognizing 22 local and indigenous communities from across the world. The winning organizations, which showcase innovative, nature-based solutions for tackling climate change, environment, and poverty challenges, will be honored at a celebratory gala on 24 September in New York.

8. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan  initiative Reduced Groundwater Contamination

The 'Swachh Bharat' initiative of the Narendra Modi government has led to a reduction in the contamination of groundwater, a UNICEF study has observed. Hailing the mission, Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Wednesday said cleanliness affects all aspects of the environment as well as health and well-being of the communities in Open Defecation Free (ODF) regions. He also said a WHO study conducted in 2018 had estimated that the Swachh Bharat mission will save over three lakh lives by the time India is Open Defecation Free.

9. Rihanna named as world’s richest female musician with $600 million wealth

Singer Rihanna has been named as the "World's Richest Female Musician" by the Forbes magazine with an estimated fortune of $600 million with the bulk of that coming from her Fenty beauty range. She's overtaken Madonna and Beyonce, who previously topped the list, the BBC reported.  You could be forgiven for forgetting Rihanna even makes music - her last studio album "Anti" came out in 2016.

10. The army launched RODRA website to address veterans’ issues

Manpower Planning (MP) Directorate, (MP 5&6) is responsible for custody and maintenance of approximately 1.2 Lakh service records of serving and retired officers of the Indian Army.  However, due to lack of digitization and non-availability of the latest address and contact details of veterans, connecting with veteran officers/family pensioners and addressing their grievances was a major challenge.

11. For the first time, China launched “Long March 11 rocket “, a rocket to space from a ship at sea 

A Long March 11 rocket was launched from a ship in the Yellow Sea just after midday. China now spends more than Russia and Japan on its civil and military space programs. China launched a space rocket from the sea for the first time on Wednesday, its space agency announced, the latest step in Beijing's push to become a major space power.

12. World Food Safety Day 2019 Observed On June 7

The first-ever World Food Safety Day, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2018, will be celebrated on 7 June 2019 under the theme "Food Safety, everyone's business". WHO, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is pleased to facilitate Member States effort to celebrate the World Food Safety Day this year and in coming years.
